Antique and Artwork Moving Across Parker, Hood and Tarrant County

Older furniture fails in ways new furniture does not. Shellac and wax finishes mark under plastic wrap and heat. Dovetail and mortise joints are held by fit rather than glue, so a chair lifted by one arm can rack loose. Glass-front cabinets crack when the glass shifts, and a canvas wrapped in plastic against the paint can lift when it comes off. Everyday moving methods were not built for that.

Brazos Movers sends crews with pads, crates and picture boxes from the main office at 1305 Ranger Hwy in Weatherford and from the Granbury office. We move single pieces, collections and estates being divided among family across the three counties, and we receive and hold pieces for interior designers until the room is ready.

How We Move Each Antique Piece

Before move day you tell us what you own and send photos of the pieces that worry you most. On move day the crew photographs each piece with you, removes shelves, mirrors and tops that should come off, bags the hardware with the piece, wraps or crates it, and carries it by the frame rather than a leg or an arm. At the new house we unwrap, reassemble, place and walk the condition notes together.

Materials on the Truck for Antiques

Furniture pads go against the wood with stretch wrap over the pads, never on a bare finish. Framed art and mirrors ride on edge in picture boxes with corner protectors. Marble tops, glass-front cabinets and anything that cannot be padded safely get a custom crate. China, crystal and small collectibles are packed in dish packs with cell dividers. Load bars and tie-downs hold every crate still, which matters on the gravel county roads around Springtown and Stephenville.

What Sets the Price for Antique Moving

The number of pieces that need a crate drives the quote more than anything else, followed by the packing time for china and glass, stairs and long carries at both ends, and the distance between addresses. Inside a household move, antiques add to the crew and hours in our published price ranges, which start at $300 to $650 for a room or less. A single piece collected from a dealer or an auction house is quoted on its own.

Stairs, Elevators and Fresh Floors

Older homes have a stairwell too narrow for a wardrobe, so we decide at the walk-through whether it comes apart. New builds in Aledo mean fresh floors and painted walls that need runners and door padding the whole route. Our Fort Worth movers reserve elevator pads and a loading dock window for condo deliveries, and our Granbury movers plan the deck stairs between a lake-house drive and its door.
